In the beautiful province of Drenthe, you can enjoy impressive cycling tours through stream valleys, forests, and heathlands. With over two thousand kilometers of cycling paths, there are plenty of routes awaiting you. In a province blessed with such a beautiful and varied landscape, there are naturally many amazing cycling routes for you to explore. Long cycling routes taking you along ancient cultural sites, or mountain bike rides through wide paths and challenging single tracks. Whatever distance you want to cover and whatever you wish to encounter along the way, we have prepared the most beautiful routes for you in our new cycling magazine! We wish you lots of cycling pleasure!

 

In Drenthe, you'll find more than 2500 kilometers of cycling paths, many of which are perfect for leisurely rides. Along these paths, you'll encounter beautiful heathlands, charming village squares (brinkdorpen), eslands, expansive forests, numerous cultural-historical landmarks such as hunebedden (megalithic tombs), glacial valleys, old farmhouses, pingo's (ice-walled hills), sheep flocks, designated natural areas, and a plethora of museums and attractions. Starting from Odoorn, we have prepared 26 routes for you to explore. 

  • Take "De Flintenroute" towards Borger and the hunebedden for a journey through picturesque villages and stunning natural scenery.
  • The "Ellertsveldroute" leads you to Schoonoord and Sleen, where you'll encounter the giants Ellert & Brammert.
  • Head towards the museum village of Orvelte on the "De Orvelte Route."
  • "De Roldertorenroute" takes you to Rolde, Grolloo, and Assen.
  • The Westerwolde Route guides you through the peat colonies with their numerous cultural-historical features.
  • And the Van Gogh Route goes towards Zweeloo and the Van Gogh House in Nieuw Amsterdam.

To ease into your vacation or weekend, we have the "Korte Beentjes Route" to Theehuis Poolshoogte and the sheep flock of Exloo.
